{"id":286,"date":"2018-02-28T14:11:33","date_gmt":"2018-02-28T14:11:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/morven-may.co.uk\/?p=286"},"modified":"2020-09-26T14:01:20","modified_gmt":"2020-09-26T13:01:20","slug":"review-from-nairn-bookshop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/morven-may.co.uk\/?p=286","title":{"rendered":"Review From Nairn Bookshop."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-182\" src=\"https:\/\/morven-may.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Nairn-Bookshop-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/morven-may.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Nairn-Bookshop-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/morven-may.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Nairn-Bookshop-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/morven-may.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Nairn-Bookshop.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>FINDING JOY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>BY MORVEN-MAY MAcCALLUM<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Review by Mavis MacDonald \u2013 owner of Nairn Bookshop.<\/p>\n<p>When Morven-May approached me about her book \u2018Finding Joy\u2019, I was immediately drawn to her.\u00a0 She was quietly spoken and I found myself listening intently to what she had to say.\u00a0 I knew immediately I wanted to invite her to speak at the shop about her novel and Lyme Disease.<\/p>\n<p>We had an excellent turn out for her.\u00a0 Again, although quietly spoken, she could be heard quite clearly and she had the undivided attention of the audience.\u00a0 Morven-May\u2019s talk was informative and well presented.\u00a0 She took several questions from the audience which she answered and sometimes became discussion points.\u00a0 A very competent and well received speaker.<\/p>\n<p>This book was written as a work of fiction but is very closely linked to Morven-May\u2019s own struggle with the devastating Lyme Disease.<\/p>\n<p>Morven-May takes the reader on a harrowing journey of the young character Joyce.\u00a0 Joyce very quickly transforms from being an energetic teenager to a recluse.\u00a0 Some days she cannot get out of bed or carry out the basics of everyday life e.g. brushing her hair.<\/p>\n<p>Doctors don\u2019t listen to Joyce or her carer Aunt Beth.\u00a0 Generally the doctors and people who know her do not believe the physical and mental agony Joyce is going through.\u00a0 However, one day, she is listened to and life starts to change for her by bringing some light into her now very dark life.<\/p>\n<p>Like her character Joyce, Morven-May missed most of her secondary education which, in my opinion, makes it remarkable that she was able to pen a novel of such quality.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Finding Joy\u2019 gives the reader a shocking insight into what it is like for many sufferers of Lyme Disease.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FINDING JOY BY MORVEN-MAY MAcCALLUM Review by Mavis MacDonald \u2013 owner of Nairn Bookshop.
